Appreciate the quick response. This is a tough sell mainly due to the fact that it obligates the customer to purchase a whole KDS to unlock a single feature, on top of that it is ideal for servers/waiters to handle as they typically hand customers their food. I can understand the logic behind giving the responsibility of coordinating order alerts to the expeditor, however, it is hard to justify purchasing an entire KDS and subscription of KDS software to have a single in-demand feature.
I think I should have been more specific with my request -- similar to how your Wait List can notify via SMS that the table is ready, and similar to providing customers a receipt via SMS, a good cross-section of this already-existing feature set might be ideal to include on a column in the "Check Stats" and "Phone Order" tab. Adding a button to notify customers their order is ready via the Check Stats tab would shift the responsibility to the server/waiter as they handle the customer-facing activities.
