SKU Type Selection Auto / Custom

1. An existing Variant item, when unlinking or re-linking a new variant to an existing item if you select the "Auto or Custom" sku the system throws out the information within the system that has been set previously.

Adding on an additional variant to existing item:

Note: If you change it to Auto then it takes the originally applied SKU/Code and remove's it from the item and inserts "Auto" SKU's which result in the "Duplicated SKU's on the system.
